Educational Incentive. For those employees receiving educational incentive payments at the time of layoff, upon reemployment such employees shall be eligible to receive educational incentive.
Educational Incentive. Upon re-employment, any employee who had been receiving educational incentive as per Section 807 at the time of layoff shall, upon reinstatement, be eligible to receive that same type/level of educational incentive received at time of layoff.
Educational Incentive. Employees may improve their job skills by taking related coursework at a college, university, or vocational center. Employees taking courses under this provision would use acquired training in their current position with the Polk County School Board. Employees shall be reimbursed for the cost of tuition, books and required materials according to the following guidelines.
a) Are full-time employees covered by this collective bargaining agreement?
b) Obtain written approval by the Director of Labor and Employee Relations prior to the start of classes.
c) Receive a grade of “C” or better in coursework or satisfactory completion for non-graded coursework.
d) Provide receipts for reimbursement.
e) Provide proof of successful completion.
f) Coursework that is repeated (ex. to raise the grade or GPA) will not be reimbursed a second time.
g) Upon completion of a program or cessation of coursework, the employee agrees to remain an employee with the Polk County School Board. (1-24 credit hours = one-half contract year), (25-48 credit hours = one contract year, (49-72 credit hours = one and one-half contract years), (73-96 credit hours = two contract years), (97-120 credit hours = two and one-half contract years), (121-144 credit hours = three contract years).
h) The employee shall not receive time reimbursement credit during any semester the employee is receiving the tuition/book subsidy established in this article.
i) The employee shall sign a promissory note agreeing to the above stated time reimbursement. Time reimbursement shall not exceed a maximum of three (3) years.
j) If the employee’s position terminates, he/she owes no further obligation to the District.
Educational Incentive. Base pay for Police Sergeants and Lieutenants classifications shall be increased by the following educational incentive schedule to be paid on the first paycheck in July: Annual Payment Degree $500 Bachelor’s Degree $750 Advanced Degrees (e.g MA, MBA, JD) Both Police Sergeants and Lieutenants shall continue to be eligible to receive both the educational incentive and longevity pay. These incentives are not cumulative. Each Sergeant or Lieutenant can receive only one educational incentive per year and multiple degrees – at the same or different levels – do not trigger additional incentives.
Educational Incentive. During the term of this agreement, bargaining unit members will be entitled to a one-time educational incentive based on the table below for any qualifying degrees obtained during the life of this contract.
Educational Incentive. The Sheriff’s Office shall make annual education incentive payments to those employees who receive job related degrees in a field of study that pertains to their job description from accredited institutions. The degrees and payments shall be: Associate Degree $200.00 Baccalaureate Degree $400.00 Master’s Degree $600.00 The payments shall be made in a lump sum amount subject to appropriate deductions in either the last pay period in June or the first pay period of July each calendar year. Only those employees who are employed and working as of June 01 each year shall be eligible for the incentive payment and who have worked at least six (6) months during the prior twelve (12) months. Educational incentive payments are not cumulative.
Educational Incentive. Base pay for Officer classifications shall be increased by the following educational incentive schedule to be paid on the first paycheck in July: Annual Payment Degree $1000 Bachelor’s Degree $1200 Advanced Degrees (e.g MA, MBA, JD)
Educational Incentive. In addition to his/her base hourly wage, an employee shall receive incentive pay in the noted amounts for educational attainments which, as per the official class specification maintained by the County Human Resources Department, are not specifically required for the classification in which he/she is employed: Associate's Degree............... +2.5% Bachelor's Degree................. +3.5% Graduate's Degree................ +5.0% Incentives may be granted pursuant to this subsection only after submission of appropriate documentation to, and approval by, the Director - Human Resources.
Educational Incentive. 12.1 Upon recommendation of the Chief and after prior written approval of the City Manager, the City of Pueblo shall reimburse a permanent, full-time employee upon successful completion of an approved course or courses in educational or vocational training. The course for training must be related to the work, be designed to improve competence in the job, and be of value to the employee's services to the City. The amount to be reimbursed shall be seventy-five percent (75%) of the actual cost of tuition, fees and books actually paid for by the employee. If an employee is laid off during a period of time he is attending school, such employee shall receive the reimbursement on a pro-rata basis to the date of such lay-off.
12.2 In addition to any other compensation to which a police officer may be entitled, each officer shall receive an annual education incentive in accordance with the table set forth below, provided that the officer has at least one year of service with the City of Pueblo, that officers initially hired on or after January 1, 1996, are not eligible to receive any education incentive at the thirty semester hours level and that the other conditions of this Article are met: - 30 semester Hours - $200.00; - Associate Degree - $400.00; - Bachelors Degree - $600.00; - Masters Degree - $800.00. Laid off employees eligible for the above compensation shall receive a pro-rata payment for that portion of the year in which they are laid off.
12.3 Educational incentive will only be paid to officers whose education is related to law enforcement work. Additionally, it is the responsibility of the officer to advise the City of the level of payment to which he is entitled and to present substantiation of the completed course work for which he claims credit. An employee shall be paid only the amount of money listed for the highest of the levels he attains listed in Section 12.2.
Educational Incentive. An educational incentive bonus is paid to all employees as follows:
A. An employee shall be paid an amount equal to 2.9% of salary Step 5 of a Firefighter per month as an educational incentive bonus for attaining:
(1) Certification by the California State Fire Marshal as a Company Officer; or
(2) Certification by the California State Fire Marshal as a Fire Officer or Prevention Officer III
B. An employee shall be paid an amount equal to 5% of salary Step 5 of a Firefighter per month as an educational incentive bonus for attaining an A.A. or A.S. Degree from an accredited college or university and at least 18 units in fire science.
C. An employee shall be paid an amount equal to 4.7% of salary Step 5 of a Firefighter per month as an educational incentive bonus for the completion of satisfactory course work as follows:
(1) Certification as a Company Officer plus completion of 18 units of upper division management courses either from an accredited college or university or through the State Fire Marshal program plus the completion of nine years of service with the Santa Xxxxxx Fire Department.
D. An employee shall be paid an amount equal to 5.4% of salary Step 5 of a Firefighter per month as an educational incentive bonus for attaining certifications as follows:
(1) Certification by the California State Fire Marshal as a Chief Fire Officer; or
(2) Certification by the California State Fire Marshal as a Fire Marshal with both an Investigator I and Investigator II certification.
E. An employee shall be paid an amount equal to 8.6% of salary Step 5 of a Firefighter per month as an educational incentive bonus for earning a B.A. or B.S. degree from an accredited college or university and at least 36 units in fire science.
F. Application for the educational incentive for either first-time eligibles or those who become eligible for a higher level of educational incentive, accompanied by either a report card, transcript, or certificate of completion by the issuing agency, shall be made once all the required course work has been completed and shall be made effective with the first payroll period following the date on which the required documentation has been submitted to the Human Resources Department.
