Embodied souls require anthropomorphic descriptions of God In the following section I will explore Philo’s view on anthropomorphic descriptions of God in the Bible as brought forward in Deus 51–85. I want to explore Philo’s handling of such descriptions, because divine pardon implies an anthropomorphic presentation of God like, for example, becoming angry or — Philo’s doctrine of God — being appeased again. Philo, however, maintained that God is not like humans.
