ANGOLA. In Angola, the Western Lowland Gorilla occurs only in the forests of Cabinda, north of the mouth of the River Congo. Its habitat is contiguous with that in the Republic of Congo and southwest DRC, which is the southern margin of tropical moist forest and the south-western limit of gorilla distribution. No definitive population figures exist. Gorillas are thought to be rare and probably declining since the 1970’s (Xxxxxxxxx and Xxxxx, 2005), but no recent survey data exists.
