Announced Observations. All non-PTS Educators in their first year in the school, PTS educators on Improvement Plans, and other Educators at the discretion of the Evaluator shall have at least one announced observation(s) conducted according to the following: • The Evaluator shall select the date and time of the lesson or activity to be observed and discuss with the Educator any specific goal(s) for the observation. The observation shall be at least thirty minutes in duration. • Within 5 school days of the scheduled observation, the Evaluator and Educator will meet for a pre- observation conference. • The Educator shall provide the Evaluator a draft of the lesson, student conference, IEP plan or activity. If the actual plan is different, the Educator will provide the Evaluator with a copy prior to the observation. • The Educator will be notified as soon as possible if the Evaluator will not be able to attend the scheduled observation. The observation will be rescheduled with the Educator as soon as reasonably practical. • Within 5 school days of the observation, the Evaluator shall provide the Educator with written feedback within 5 school days of the post-observation conference. For any standard where the Educator’s practice was found to be unsatisfactory or needs improvement, the feedback must: o Describe the basis for the Evaluator’s judgment. o Describe actions the Educator should take to improve his/her performance. o Identify support and/or resources the Educator may use in his/her improvement. o State that the Educator is responsible for addressing the need for improvement. • Within 5 school days of receipt of the written feedback, the Evaluator and Educator shall meet for a post- observation conference. This timeframe may be extended due to unavailability on the part of either the Evaluator or the Educator, but shall be rescheduled within 24 hours if possible. Teachers who question the validity of an observation report are entitled to another observation by a different evaluator chosen by the Superintendent. Such request must be made, in writing, within five (5) school days after the teacher’s receipt of the final observation report.

The Evaluator shall provide the Educator with written feedback within 5 to 7 school days of the post-observation conference. For any standard where the Educator’s practice was found to be unsatisfactory or needs improvement, the feedback must: a. Describe the basis for the Evaluator’s judgment. b. Describe actions the Educator should take to improve his/her performance. c. Identify support and/or resources the Educator may use in his/her improvement. d. If the actual plan or agenda is different, the Administrator will provide the Evaluator with a copy prior to the observation. (b) The Administrator will be notified as soon as possible if the Evaluator will not be able to attend the scheduled observation. The observation will be rescheduled in collaboration with the Administrator as soon as reasonably practical. iii) Within 5 school days of the observation, the Administrator and Educator shall meet for a post-observation conference. This timeframe may be extended due to unavailability on the part of either the Evaluator or the Administrator, but must occur within 10 school days of the original observation. iv) The Evaluator shall provide the Administrator with written feedback within 5 school days of the post-observation conference.

PTS Educators on Improvement Plans shall have at least four Announced Observations. ii. In the case of an observation that raises questions or concerns, the evaluator will request an in-person conference with the educator. Following this request, the Educator and the Evaluator shall meet within two days at a mutually agreeable time.
