APPENDIX B MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING. EARLY SAFE RETURN TO WORK The Union and the Employer agree that ill or injured employees may benefit from involvement in Early Safe Return to Work Programs which may involve a number of initiatives such as a gradual increase in hours of work up to full shift hours, modified work, work place modification, a work hardening program, or, if necessary a change in work assignment. Participation in such a program shall be voluntary for both the employee and the Employer and contingent upon the written consent of the employee’s physician. The program shall be considered as part of the treatment/rehabilitation process. All employees engaged in a rehabilitation/treatment process shall be supernumerary. The employee, an Employer designate responsible for the Early Safe Return to Work Program, the Union xxxxxxx and the employee’s immediate supervisor will meet to agree on a suitable program.
