Apprentice Mechanic. Apprentices must be registered with SkilledTradesBC and will be paid in accordance with the index in Appendix “A”.
Apprentice Mechanic. The following information relays the suggested method of implementation in regards to the proposed apprentice mechanic position at Public Works.
Apprentice Mechanic. Apprentice Mechanic. Must have post secondary training from a recognized trade school and be currently enrolled in an apprenticeship program leading to an automotive or heavy duty mechanical license. Must possess a heavy duty license or automotive license. Must be able to work independently on all equipment assigned. Must accept other duties as assigned by his/her supervisor including vehicle and shop clean-up. Must be able to accept training to maintain skill for all equipment maintained by the Department.

Apprentice Mechanic. An apprentice mechanic works with a Class A mechanic, cleaning parts, helping to install parts and cleans the shop. The apprentice attends school four (4) months in a two (2) year time period and has to have a total of hours before writing his exam for a Class A. The apprentice works very close to the Class A mechanic at all times, except when cleaning his area or the shop. Classified as a the mechanic is only allowed to work on trailers.
