(d) Training costs for Apprentices (i) Provided there is satisfactory progress, any fees and costs associated with the first year of the apprenticeship will be reimbursed by the Employer within six months of payment being made by the Employee. (ii) Provided there is satisfactory progress, any fees and costs associated with subsequent years of the apprenticeship will be reimbursed by the Employer within two months of payment being made by the Employee. (iii) The Employer may meet their obligations under this clause 14.9(d) by paying any fees and costs associated with the apprenticeship directly (rather than the Employee paying the fees and costs and being reimbursed by the Employer). (iv) “Fees and costs” includes any fees charged by an RTO and the costs of any prescribed learner resources.

(b) An adult apprentice (over 21 years of age) will not be paid a wage less than the wages payable to an Employee classified as a CW1(d) under this Agreement. (c) The Employer will provide all hand tools to the apprentice unless an apprentice is covered by a ‘trade support loan scheme’. Where the Employer does provide all hand tools, the Employer may deduct the tool allowance from an apprentice’s wages on a weekly basis until the equivalent cost of the tools is recovered. (d) All power or battery-operated tools must be provided by the Employer at no cost to the apprentice. (e) Apprentices will be paid: (i) An hourly rate of pay based upon a percentage of the base tradesperson rate in accordance with the following table: Adult Apprentice Not less than CW1(d) First Year Apprentice 55% of the full rate Second Year Apprentice 75% of the full rate Third Year Apprentice 90% of the full rate (ii) a percentage of the Redundancy contribution prescribed by clause 19.3 as follows: Note: The Employer must also comply with clause 19.6 for each apprentice and pay the Fares & Travel Allowance to each apprentice. (iii) Superannuation in accordance with clause 32 of this Agreement. (iv) a percentage of the Site Allowance based on the table at clause 22.2(e)(ii).

Employer superannuation contribution payments will be made in compliance with the Treasury Laws Amendment (Your Superannuation, Your Choice) Act 2020. Contributions will continue to be paid on behalf of the Employee during any absence of paid leave such as annual leave, long service leave (including where this is paid for by QLeave), public holidays, sick leave (including periods of CIPQ and including periods of Workers’ Compensation for the first 12 months). Contributions will not be paid when an Employee is on leave without pay. All payments will be made based on full week payments. However, where an Employee commences work partly through a pay week, the Employee shall not be entitled for any contribution for that part week. Superannuation payments will commence from the first day of the first full pay week of employment. A superannuation pay week shall be the same pay week as applies to the payment of wages/ remuneration. Payment on termination shall be based on a payment for a full week for any commenced week.
