Assignment of preceptor. Each newly licensed nurse shall be assigned a nurse preceptor for the purpose of direction and support during the orientation period. Other newly hired nurses and nurses changing clinical practice areas shall also be assigned a preceptor if they or management feel it is necessary. The nurse preceptor shall oversee the skills development of the nurse during the orientation period, and be accountable for completing all records documenting skills development.
