ASSIGNMENT TO VACANT HIGHER POSITION. Employees directed to continuously perform duties in a vacant higher level regular position for which funds have been appropriated shall be entitled to a salary rate increase to the higher level for the time actually worked in excess of five (5) consecutively assigned shifts unless specifically waived by the employee. The salary rate increase will become effective the first day of the pay period following completion of the five shifts provided, however:
