Common use of Authorization Holds Clause in Contracts

Authorization Holds. We and/or some merchants may request preauthorization for a Cash Advance and/or purchases in the transaction amount plus an estimated additional amount to ensure there are sufficient funds available to cover tips or incidental expenses incurred. Such a preauthorization request may result in a “hold” on your available Card funds in the amount the merchant submits for preauthorization (“Authorization Hold”). Once the final amount of the transaction is determined and has been processed and settled, your Card will be debited for such amount and the Authorization Hold will be removed. During the period of any Authorization Hold, the Card funds that are subject to the Authorization Hold will generally not be available for other Card transactions. We will have no liability to you in the event we decline any Card transaction because an Authorization Hold is in place. We reserve the right to release, in our discretion, any Authorization Hold in order to make funds available for other Card transactions, and if we do so we will have no liability to you if we subsequently reject the transaction corresponding to the Authorization Hold due to insufficient Card Funds. Authorization Holds. We and/or some When you use your SECU Visa Gift Card to pay for goods or services, certain merchants may request preauthorization for a Cash Advance and/or purchases in ask us to authorize the transaction in advance and may estimate its final value. When we authorize the transaction, we commit to make the requested funds available when the transaction finally settles and may place a temporary hold on your Card’s available balance for the amount plus submitted by the merchant. We will only post the correct amount of the final transaction to your Card. Until the transaction finally settles or 3 business days have passed, whichever occurs first, the funds subject to the authorization hold will not be available to you for other purposes. An exception to this rule is that authorizations from hotels are held for 10 business days. Some merchants may also add an amount (such as an estimated additional amount tip) to ensure there are that sufficient funds will be available to cover tips the final transaction; therefore, the authorization hold may be more or incidental expenses incurredless than the final transaction amount. Such If the amount of the authorization request exceeds the available funds on your Card, the transaction may be declined. We are not responsible if we do not authorize or pay subsequent Card transactions while such an authorization hold is in place on the available balance. We and/or When you use your Card to pay for goods or services at certain merchants or to reserve some merchants types of goods or services, we may request preauthorization for or the merchant may ask us to preauthorize the Cardholder Transaction and may estimate its final value. If we preauthorize the Cardholder Transaction, we will place a Cash Advance and/or purchases in the transaction amount plus an estimated additional amount to ensure there are sufficient funds available to cover tips temporary use restriction or incidental expenses incurred.
