Backfill Zones Clause Samples

The Backfill Zones clause defines specific areas within a project or site where backfilling activities are to be performed. It typically outlines the boundaries, materials, and methods to be used for filling excavated spaces, such as trenches or foundations, after utilities or structures have been installed. By clearly designating these zones and the requirements for backfilling, the clause ensures that the work is completed to the necessary standards and helps prevent disputes over the extent and quality of backfill operations.
Backfill Zones. Each backfill zone shall extend the full width of the trench bottom. i. Foundation: Extending down from the bottom of bedding zone as defined below. ii. Pipe Embedment 1. Bedding: Extending from 4 inches below the pipe bottom to the pipe bottom for 30-inch diameter and smaller and 6 inches below the pipe bottom for pipes larger than 30 inches in diameter.
Backfill Zones. On completion of the pipe laying operations in any section, for a length of about 100 m and while further work is still in progress, backfilling of trenches shall be started by the Contractor with a view to restricting the length of open trenches. For the purpose of backfilling the depth of the trench shall be considered as divided into the following three zones, starting from the bottom of the trench to its top. Zone A: From the bottom of the pipe to the level of the center line of the pipe. Zone B: From the level of the center line of the pipeline to a level 300 mm above the top of the pipe. Zone C: From a level 300 mm above the top of the pipe to the top of the trench. Special care shall be taken during all backfilling operations to avoid damage to the pipe coating or displacement of the pipe.
