Bidding of Bus Routes. Bidding for regular and special education bus routes may start two weeks prior to the driver orientation meeting and no later than the orientation meeting. 23.2.1 The District shall post regular bus routes and the current bus driver seniority list by August 15 of each year for review by bus drivers. The seniority hour’s list shall be current as of June 30 of the previous fiscal year. 23.2.2 Special Education routes may be posted on August 15, but no later than the morning of the driver orientation meeting. Bidding for Special Education routes shall take place before the end of the workday at the driver orientation meeting. The driver shall notify the Supervisor of Transportation in writing of his/her first three (3) choices in routes at least two (2) working days prior to bidding. At the driver orientation meeting the supervisor shall assign the route for the absent driver based on seniority and routes available. A "regular run" means an AM to school or a PM from school run, "kindergarten runs," or "late runs," or a combination thereof. Upon completion of bidding these assigned runs become the regular assignment for the driver. Drivers will choose buses from those available of the appropriate capacity as designated for their selected "regular runs." 3.10.2.1. The District will make every effort to increase regular hours of assignment and monthly average work hours for drivers based on seniority. 3.10.2.2. If a driver cannot be reached voluntarily chooses less daily assigned hours than are available to the driver for the year, then bidding will cease until he/she can be reached or said driver shall sign a Statement of Consent that has been prepared by the District. A decision to accept fewer hours than a driver is entitled to shall remain in effect until the driver orientation meetingrequests more hours based on an existing position which is vacated by the incumbent and the District intends to fill. 23.2.4 If 3.10.2.3. When there are multiple eligible drivers, all eligibles may bid on the open route. Eligible drivers who do not bid for an affected route will not be eligible to bid on the resulting open route. As a result of this bid process, the affected driver will receive the remaining open route based on his/her seniority. Under no circumstance will the affected driver's assignment be reduced to less than the number of hours guaranteed in August, and the affected driver shall receive the higher hours during the eight (8) day displacement period. This section is considered part intended to protect, to the greatest extent possible, the ability of senior drivers to bid on the pre-most available hours to work.. 3.10.2.4. If a run becomes available during the year because of resignation or termination, it shall be made available for bidding as above, and assigned in order of seniority on the basis of bids submitted.
