Career-Ladder Promotions from Trainee Positions. For training purposes, a position may be advertised and filled at a lower classification in the series than the established classification of the position. The establishment of a trainee position shall require the approval of the Vice Chancellor of Human Resources or designee. A Unit Member employed in a training position shall receive written goals, requirements and an established, justifiable time frame for completion of training. When the Unit Member is fully trained and able to function in the higher classification, the Immediate Management Supervisor shall recommend promotion to the established classification of the position. It is recommended that the promotion be effective within twelve (12) months after placing the Unit Member in the training position.
