Categorical and Preliminary Positions. PGY-1 positions that become vacant due to an applicant dismissal, resignation, transfer, or approved waiver or deferral, may be filled outside of the Match provided training commences before February 1 of the year following the Match. If training will not begin before February 1, the position shall be placed in the Match. PGY-1 positions that become vacant any time after the conclusion of SOAP can be filled outside the Match prior to the day registration opens for the next Match.
