Civil and Legal Rights. 2.3.1 The personal life of an employee is not an appropriate concern of the Governing Board except as it may directly prevent the employee from performing properly his/her assigned functions during the workday. 2.3.2 Employees shall be entitled to full rights of citizenship, and no religious, political, or organizational activities of any employee or the lack thereof shall be grounds for any discipline or discrimination with respect to the continued employment of such employee, providing said activities do not violate any local, state, or federal laws. 2.3.3 Whenever any employee is required to appear before the Superintendent, Governing Board, designee, or any committee or member thereof, concerning any matter which could adversely affect the continuation of that employee in his/her office, position or employment or the salary or any increments pertaining thereto, then he/she shall be given prior written notice of the reasons for such meeting or interview and shall be entitled to have an AFSCME representative present to advise him/her and represent him/her during such meeting or interview. Any suspension of an employee pending charges shall be with pay unless otherwise provided by law.
