The Class Size/Case Load clause sets limits on the number of students assigned to a teacher or the number of cases managed by a staff member. In practice, this clause may specify maximum student counts per classroom or cap the number of clients a counselor can serve at one time, ensuring workloads remain manageable. Its core function is to maintain quality of service and prevent overburdening staff, thereby supporting effective teaching or case management and promoting better outcomes for students or clients.
Class Size/Case Load. 1. The District shall establish a "break even" average daily attendance figure of 20 per class. This number shall be revised upward proportionally, as and if, State Adult Education revenue limit is decreased. If State Adult Education revenue limit is subsequently increased, this number shall be revised downward to the current figure of 20 per class. 2. Should the average daily attendance of a class fall below the pre-designated number, the District may close the class. The teacher assigned to the class will be given at least five days advance notice in writing of the intent to close the class. The site administrator and the affected teacher(s) shall meaningfully discuss options to preclude the necessity of class closures. 3. At the beginning of a term, classes will not be closed during the first two weeks of the term if the class meets one or two times per week. It will not be closed during the first week if it meets three or more times per week. 4. The District shall attempt to assign students to classes of the same subject or level in a manner to promote balance between the classes.
Class Size/Case Load. 1. Continuation high school shall have a student/teacher ratio of 23 to 1 2. Community Day School shall have a student/teacher ratio of 20 to 1 3. The staffing ratio of teachers to students for the Independent Study Program shall be in accordance with the Education Code 4. Opportunity Classes shall have a student/teacher ratio of 20 to 1
Class Size/Case Load. 26.1 The Association and Board recognize that maximum attention to the students by the educator is desirable to ensure the high quality of education that is the goal of both the Association and the Board. It is also acknowledged that the primary duty and responsibility of the educator is to teach and that the organization of the school, the school day, and the assignment of students to classes should be directed toward ensuring that the energies of the educator are primarily utilized to this end. Whenever a district resource educator is requested, provided or assigned, that district resource educator shall assist with assessment, implementation, monitoring, modeling and providing follow-up services for affected building staff and students. 26.1.1 To address class size/case loads following the authorized state count time frame (October count) the district shall allocate FTEs based upon student growth from the previous October count. 26.1.2 The class size/case load committee shall consist of the Chief Human Resources Officer, Director of Special Education, Executive Directors of School Services, and the Association President. The committee shall determine expenditure of the committee’s funds to address class size/case load concerns. 26.2 In K-5 specials classes at K-8 schools or elementary schools, specials educators’ class sizes shall not exceed the highest number of students in any one class per grade level. A specials class may exceed the highest number at that grade level only as an exception to meet individual student need(s) or on a school-by-school basis with direct involvement from affected educator(s), building administration, and Association President or their designee on an annual basis. 26.3 The number of pupils assigned to any classroom shall not exceed the capacity of the teaching facilities with adequate aisle space, storage room, display space, safety considerations, and interest and work centers also considered. Imbalances or overloads in class size including consideration of individual student needs shall be dealt with as follows:
Class Size/Case Load. The District will make a good faith effort to distribute students within each building in a 14 balanced manner as provided in this section in order to have equitable class sizes. The 15 overload relief provisions of 8.8.A 1-5 included herein requiring EA relief will supplement 16 current school year EA staffing allocations. At the option of either party the provisions of 17 Sections 8.8.A – 8.10.B will be renegotiated following a double levy failure or 18 determination by the Board to initiate the RIF procedures per section 9.3A of this 19 Agreement. Notification of the option to renegotiate Sections 8.8.A – 8.10.B must be 20 provided in writing to the other party of this Agreement no later than ten days following 21 board determination to effect a RIF or ten days following validation of the second levy 22 failure. Reinstatement of Sections 8.8.A – 8.10.B shall be negotiated at the request of 23 either party at any time.
Class Size/Case Load. 1. The School District agrees to adhere to pupil-staff ratios governed by licensure and funding in the schools or centers and to consult with the Federa- tion in the event that such ratios are significantly changed during the life of this Agreement. (a) No employee shall work for more than three (3) continuous hours without a fifteen (15) minute break within such three (3) hour period in addi- tion to his/her lunch period provided that the pupil-staff ratios governed by licensure and funding in the schools or centers are not violated. This is not to include his/her one half (½) hour break. All cleaners and custodial assistants shall have two (2) fifteen (15) minute breaks; one (1) in the morning and one (1) in the afternoon. (b) The District agrees to allow twenty-four (24) minutes per day for Prep Time for Lead Teachers which may be added to their current thirty (30) minute lunch. This additional time may not be used during the time that Lead Teachers are with children. 3. When a shift change becomes necessary, such changes shall be offered to employees of the appropriate job classification on a seniority basis. If all employees decline, then the least senior in that job classification shall be assigned. In any event, two (2) weeks’ notice of any change in shift shall be given to the employee involved except in a temporary shift change due to an emergency. 4. When change of assignments or schedules become necessary in a school or center, such changes, except in an emergency, shall be discussed between the Lead Teacher and employee involved at least two (2) working days in advance. 5. Custodial assistants and cleaners may use their time off as they see fit. This is to include leaving the building. Before leaving the building, custodial assis- tants and cleaners must notify the Lead Teacher. 6. Custodial employees covering assignments that pay a higher rate than their normal rate shall be compensated at that higher rate for all hours worked in that assignment. 7. No cleaner or custodial assistant shall be required to supervise or care for children, except in an emergency situation.

  • Class Size GRADE LOADING RATIO MAXIMUM CLASS SIZE 7.01 Students shall not be assigned to any class which has reached the maximum class size except as provided within this article. 7.02 The site/program administrator is required to discuss class size at a member’s request if the member’s class exceeds the loading ratio. 7.03 Instrumental and choral music classes may exceed the maximums by 1.5 times. Physical education classes may exceed the maximum by 1.35. 7.04 The site/program administrator shall make a reasonable effort to schedule English composition classes in grades 9-12 with a maximum of 29 students. 7.05 The site/program administrator shall make a reasonable effort to schedule combination classes in which students are assigned to more than one grade level K-3 or 3-4 with a maximum of 29 students and 4-6 with a maximum of 30 students. 7.06 The District will make a reasonable effort, within the financial constraints of the District, to reduce class size maximums in those classes into which special education students are integrated, in remedial classes, and in high school composition classes. 7.07 Special Education Classes shall not exceed the maximum cited in the law. 7.07.1 SDC Class Size SDC 7-12 non-severe caseload maximum shall be 26 beginning July 2002; RSP caseload shall be 28; a. The District shall make a reasonable effort to equalize class sizes as determined by the class roster throughout the District within the grade levels and programs consistent with the needs of the students as set forth in his/her IEP and the unique features of each group. “Reasonable effort” may include, but is not limited to include, busing students on a voluntary basis to other sites, moving students to other classes at that site, or adding an instructional aide. b. Except for Hearing Impaired, Visually Handicapped Preschool, SED, and ▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ Center classes, average class size within the SDC program in the District shall not exceed 12 students. The class size for any specific class shall not exceed 17 students. In Hearing Impaired, Visually Handicapped Preschool, SED, and ▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ Center classes, the District class size average shall not exceed 10, and any individual class shall not exceed 14. c. The District and the Association agree to establish a Special Education/General Education Oversight Committee composed of seven members of which a majority are teachers. The committee shall recognize that consensus is the preferable decision making process. In cases where consensus is not achievable, all decisions and recommendations shall require five (5) votes. The oversight committee shall be established to oversee, guide, and facilitate the following initiatives: i. Two-year K-12 pilot program that shall include no more than six

  • Reallocation to a Class with a Lower Salary Range Maximum 1. If the employee meets the skills and abilities requirements of the position and chooses to remain in the reallocated position, the employee retains the existing appointment status and has the right to be placed on the Employer’s internal layoff list for the classification occupied prior to the reallocation. 2. If the employee chooses to vacate the position or does not meet the skills and abilities requirements of the position, the layoff procedure specified in Article 31 of this Agreement applies.

  • Under-Frequency and Over Frequency Conditions The New York State Transmission System is designed to automatically activate a load- shed program as required by the NPCC in the event of an under-frequency system disturbance. Developer shall implement under-frequency and over-frequency relay set points for the Large Generating Facility as required by the NPCC to ensure “ride through” capability of the New York State Transmission System. Large Generating Facility response to frequency deviations of predetermined magnitudes, both under-frequency and over-frequency deviations, shall be studied and coordinated with the NYISO and Connecting Transmission Owner in accordance with Good Utility Practice. The term “ride through” as used herein shall mean the ability of a Generating Facility to stay connected to and synchronized with the New York State Transmission System during system disturbances within a range of under-frequency and over-frequency conditions, in accordance with Good Utility Practice and with NPCC Regional Reliability Reference Directory # 12, or its successor.
