A Classification Review Request clause establishes the right for a party to formally request a review of how certain information, documents, or materials have been classified, typically regarding confidentiality or security levels. In practice, this clause outlines the process for submitting a request, the timeframe for review, and the criteria or authority responsible for re-evaluating the classification. Its core function is to provide a mechanism for correcting potential misclassifications, ensuring that information is appropriately protected or disclosed according to its true sensitivity or relevance.
Classification Review Request. If an employee or supervisor believes that the placement of an employee’s classification assignment warrants a review, the employee or supervisor may request a review provided the position has not been reviewed by the Human Resources Office in the previous six (6) calendar months. An employee’s classification is not eligible for a review for the first year of employment. Requests for review will be submitted in writing to the Human Resources Director/AVP and the employee’s immediate supervisor and will contain the following:
a) a current classification description questionnaire completed by the employee;
b) a concise and specific statement as to why the employee believes the current classification assignment is inappropriate and the specific reasons therefore; and,
c) a concise and specific statement of the classification sought (which must be a currently existing classification), and the specific reasons therefore.
