Climate Risk Management. Climate risk management (CRM) is the process of assessing, addressing, and adaptively managing climate risks that may impact the ability of USAID to achieve its program objectives. Climate risks are defined as potential negative consequences due to changing climatic conditions. USAID Operating Units (OUs) must adhere to CRM requirements in project/activity design and implementation as required in ADS 201mal, with limited exceptions described in Section 1 of the reference. Accordingly, the OU must incorporate, as appropriate, the results of the climate risk assessment into the solicitation sections, Program Description and Selection Criteria, which the AO will then incorporate into the formal solicitation. Additionally, per ADS 201mal, the climate risk assessment must be documented in the environmental compliance analysis. The Climate Risk Management Resource Page contains sample language that technical and program offices can use when creating assistance packages. Additionally, OUs may obtain support from the designated Climate Integration Lead (CIL) in each B/IO and Mission.
