Common use of Commencement and Duration of Benefits Clause in Contracts

Commencement and Duration of Benefits. If an employee remains continuously and totally disabled beyond the period for which the Company pays the entire cost, he/she may continue his/her Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance in force by paying the applicable contributions referred to in (l) below. If an employee is placed on an approved leave of absence due to sickness or accident as a result of a recall from layoff, the Company will provide Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance and Survivor Income Benefits coverage for any month while he/she remains totally and continuously disabled and on a leave of absence due to sickness or accident on the same basis as if he/she ceased active work because of disability. If an employee qualifies for, and elects to receive monthly Total and Permanent Disability Benefits, Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance is not continued after such Benefits begin.
