Commencement of Leave Parental leave must commence no later than the first anniversary date of the birth or adoption of the child or of the date on which the child comes into the actual care and custody of the employee. The employee will decide when his or her parental leave is to commence.

Commencement of Grid Rate 5.2.1 Number of days to go on grid: A substitute teacher employed for more than four (4) consecutive school days as a replacement for a specific teacher shall be placed on the basic salary schedule on the fifth (5th) consecutive school day according to the substitute teacher's qualifications and experience.

Effective Date of Coverage An eligible employee is entitled to benefits provided he is actively at work on the first day the Long Term Disability Benefit Plan becomes effective. An eligible employee absent from work due to sickness or accident at the effective date of the Plan, shall only be eligible for Long Term Disability Plan benefits upon the return to continuous active full-time employment for a period of more than four consecutive weeks.
