Committee Vacancies Clause Samples

The Committee Vacancies clause outlines the procedures for addressing and filling empty positions on a committee when a member resigns, is removed, or is otherwise unable to serve. Typically, this clause specifies who has the authority to appoint replacements, the timeframe for doing so, and any qualifications or approval processes required for new members. Its core practical function is to ensure the committee remains fully staffed and operational, thereby maintaining continuity and effective governance despite unexpected departures.
Committee Vacancies. If there is a vacancy on the TPC, and no alternate has been elected by the Faculty, an eligible Member will be jointly appointed by the ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ and the President of the Association from other faculty alternates. If no alternates are available to serve, an eligible member will be jointly appointed by the ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ and the President of the Association. The appointments must follow, whenever possible, the distribution requirements of the Committee.
Committee Vacancies. Any vacancy occurring in a Committee (other than a vacancy in the Nominating Committee or the Member Nominating Committee) shall be filled by the Chairman of the Board, with the approval of the Board, for the remainder of the term of the Committee member whose resignation or removal resulted in such vacancy. Any vacancy occurring in the Nominating Committee or the Member Nominating Committee shall be filled in accordance with Sections 6.4 and 8.7(b).
Committee Vacancies. Except for vacancies to the Faculty Review Committee, should a standing committee position become vacant before the end of the designated term, the position shall be filled by recommendation of the Nominating Committee and approved by the Faculty Senate. In the event that a vacancy cannot be filled from a designated constituency any voting member of the Academic Assembly can be chosen to fill the position (See By-Law 2, "Nominations"). Vacancies to the Faculty Review Committee will be filled by a University-wide election as defined in By-Law 4, “Voting.” Committee members filling a vacancy either by election or appointment will serve only the remainder of the term of the original committee member whom they are replacing.
