Compassionate Care Benefits - Employment Insurance. (a) Employees who qualify for Compassionate Care Benefits and are subject to the waiting period pursuant to the provisions of the Employment Insurance Compassionate Care Benefits plan shall be entitled to the following: (i) The University shall pay ninety-five (95) percent of the Employee’s regular salary during the waiting period immediately prior to the date the Employee receives Employment Insurance benefits. (b) Employees who are absent from their position while on the Employment Insurance Compassionate Care Benefit plan shall retain their right to return to their position either before or at the expiry of the Employment Insurance defined period, provided the Employee’s term has not expired.
