Designated Institutional Official (. “DIO”): 1. Solicit and review disclosures of Significant Financial Interest from each Investigator who is planning to participate in, or is participating in, PHS-funded research; 2. Provide guidelines to determine whether an Investigator’s Significant Financial Interest is related to the proposed or PHS -funded research (that is, whether the SFI could be affected by the PHS-funded research or is an interest in an entity whose financial interest could be affected by the research), and to determine whether such Significant Financial Interest constitutes a Financial Conflict of Interest; 3. Develop management plans that specify the actions that have been, and shall be, taken to manage Financial Conflict of Interest; and 4. Perform such other functions required of a DIO as set forth in this policy and the PHS Regulations.
