Direct Instructional Credits and Contact Hours. Each academic employee is assigned an equitable instructional workload comparable to all academic employees' loads in time and effort. Assignments shall normally be 45 credits per academic year (15 credits per quarter for 3 quarters on average), generating from 15 contact hours up to a maximum of 24 contact hours per week in direct instructional contact with students, depending upon the mode of instruction used. Deviations from the annual or quarterly workload will be determined by the supervising administrator and the academic employee through mutual agreement. These normally assigned hours shall not include assignment of overloads. Direct instructional contact hours refers to the scheduled time for courses in all modalities, seminars, and other activities as documented in course plans, syllabi, and related documents.
