Common use of Disabled Child Clause in Contracts

Disabled Child. A disabled dependent child is an eligible employee’s child or grandchild 18 regardless of marital status, who was covered and then disabled prior to the limiting age or 19 any other limiting term required for dependent coverage and who continues to be incapable 20 of self-sustaining employment by reason of developmental disability, mental illness or 21 disorder, or physical disability, and is chiefly dependent upon the employee for support and 22 maintenance, provided proof of such incapacity and dependency must be furnished to the 23 health carrier by the employee or enrollee within thirty one (31) days of the child’s 24 attainment of the limiting age or any other limiting term required for dependent coverage.
