District Professional Development. For District Professional Development Courses, teachers may be given the option to be paid for agreed-upon instructional- related activities outside of the teacher contract days at a rate of thirty ($30.00) dollars per hour, or teachers shall receive credit for lane advancement for salary purposes.
District Professional Development. Each employee shall receive a supplemental contract for three (3) days to be compensated at per diem rate. The purpose of the supplemental days is for certificated employees to participate in District directed professional development activities. 2017-18 Proposed Days (including calendar adjustment, last day moved to Thursday June 14, 2018): August 30, 31 – already worked March 16 – Technology ½ day and individual collaboration ½ day (in alignment with building SIP (schoolwide improvement plan) Employees will sign in and be compensated in the month following the days worked. No leave (sick, professional, personal, etc.) will be granted. Learning Improvement Days formally funded by the State, if reinstated, will replace these days/hours.
District Professional Development. 44 The District believes that in order for staff to fulfill their professional responsibilities, they must have 45 opportunities for ongoing professional development in support of district, school and individual 46 improvement. Effective professional development enables individuals, groups and the organization 47 to improve instructional capabilities in ways that increase student performance and success. 49 Professional development should: 50 Focus on individual, collegial and organizational improvement;
1 Respect and nurture the intellectual capacity of staff;
2 Reflect the best available research and practice in teaching and learning;
3 Enable teachers to develop further expertise in subject content, teaching strategies, 4 instructional practices, use of technology, and other elements for teaching to high standards;
District Professional Development. 1. Coordination of the district professional development requirement and the state’s continuing education requirement will be referred to a joint study committee comprised of representatives appointed by the Board and the Association.
2. Any teacher on the regular teacher salary guide for 2004 - 2005 as of January 1, 2005 may switch to the Professional Development teacher guide 2005- 2006 by notifying in writing the Superintendent of Schools no later than January 31, 2005.
3. Graduate courses must be approved by the Director of Staff Development, Best Practices and Innovative Programs, Courses must be relevant to the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards and/or the teacher’s position in the school district. A teacher must complete the necessary forms. Gradu- ate credits will count for three (3) hours of district professional development per graduate credit for a maximum of nine (9) hours district professional de- velopment credit in any one school year.

Professional development should: • Focus on individual, collegial and organizational improvement; • Respect and nurture the intellectual capacity of staff; • Reflect the best available research and practice in teaching and learning; • Enable teachers to develop further expertise in subject content, teaching strategies, instructional practices, use of technology, and other elements for teaching to high standards; • Promote continuous inquiry and improvement embedded in the daily life of school; • Be planned collaboratively by representatives of those who will participate and facilitate that development • Be evaluated on the basis of its impact on student learning and performance Employee staff development activities may include, but not be limited to the following areas:
1) Professional learning communities around effective instructional practices, literature groups, review of student progress etc.
2) Classroom observation and visitation.
3) Workshops and classes.
4) Consultant and material assistance for staff involved in curriculum innovation. The District’s professional development program shall be directed and coordinated by the Office of. Teaching and Learning, with input from principals and district staff.
District Professional Development activities must qualify as Professional Development by meeting the State definition for Professional Development and be in concert with the District Educational Plan. These activities are agreed to and scheduled by the Joint Council for Professional Development and are intended to meet the Professional Development needs of the District.
District Professional Development. The Professional Development Committee will be responsible for planning the professional development for the District’s Administrators.
