Dock floors Sample Clauses

Dock floors. The dock floors consist of a concrete slab with bottom reinforcement only. The floor slab shall be cast in bays not exceeding 12m x 12m. Casting of bays shall be arranged such that a minimum time interval of 72 hours elapses between the concreting of adjacent bays. As far as practicable the bays shall be cast from the dock head towards the entrance in an “arrowhead” formation, rather than “chequerboard”. This facilitates both drainage and cleaning of the bays about to be cast whilst accommodating the necessary time lapse between casting adjacent bays. The surface of the concrete shall be screeded, levelled transversely, tamped and floated to a smooth surface Class U3 as specified in Specification Part 3. The concrete surface shall, at any point, be within ± 5 mm of the true plane of the dock floor and shall have no discontinuity across any joint. Joints in bays shall be keyed as indicated on the Drawings and a recess formed at the top of the joint which shall be sealed as specified. The bottom of the joint shall be provided with an approved external water bar which shall be jointed in accordance with the manufacturer’s requirements.‌ A number of inspection xxxxxxxx are to be incorporated into the floor.
