Driver Access. For safety, it is important that tanker drivers have clear, unobstructed access to walk from the tanker to the vat. It is essential that the area is kept free of machinery, storage of agri-products and rubbish. Grass and / or vegetation must be maintained to provide clear access for the driver. Please ensure that: • the access path is not slippery, is free draining and free from hazards including spilled grain and forage; • vat ladders are non-slip; • any steps or hazards in the driver’s path are clearly marked with yellow paint and / or signs; • light switches in the vat room are easily located near the shed entrance for night collections; and • there is adequate lighting in the vat room.
