Educational Requirements. 47.1 Civilian Members employed on a permanent full-time basis as of November 18, 1993 shall be exempted from the requirement to meet Grade 12 equivalency (only in future job postings).

All firefighters hired after January 1, 2013, must hold a current and valid state of Ohio paramedic certification (EMT-P) as a condition of employment for their length of employment with the City of Marysville. Additionally, no Firefighter (those hired before January 1, 2013) can drop any EMT-P certification after holding it for six years, if that action takes the Fire Department below a 50% rate of certified full-time Firefighters. The individual may voluntarily drop their certification after this 6 year period provided the member voluntarily dropping their certification gives at least a 20 calendar day notice to the Fire Chief. Line personnel hired after January 1, 2001 that drop their certification as a paramedic must maintain their EMT certification as a condition of employment.

At the end of a student's stay at the host institution, an official university transcript will be sent to the designated program director of the student’s home institution showing the courses taken, the number of credit hours earned, and the grades earned. Granting of credits for courses completed at the host institution shall be the sole prerogative of the home institution. The responsibility for providing the transcript shall be with the host university and there will be no charge therefore. The registrar’s office of the student’s host institution will be notified in advance of the need to supply a transcript and all students will be required to sign a release form.

All regular, (excluding auxiliary police) non- probationary officers who have completed the Mid-Michigan Police Academy (or equivalent) Training Program shall receive such training as the scheduling needs of the department and finances budgeted for the Police Department will permit.
