Common use of Elected or Appointed to Federal, Provincial, Municipal or Regional Municipal Office Clause in Contracts

Elected or Appointed to Federal, Provincial, Municipal or Regional Municipal Office. An employee who is elected or appointed to Federal, Provincial, Municipal or Regional Municipal office, who is required to be absent from work because of her elected or appointed duties shall upon written application to the Employer, be granted sufficient time on leave of absence to comply with her duties. Seniority and service shall continue consistent with the Collective Agreement. It will become the responsibility of the employee for full payment of any applicable benefits in which the employee is participating during such leave of absence. Such payment shall be in advance of when the monthly premium is due.
