Common use of Eligibility for top Clause in Contracts

Eligibility for top. up payment for Weeks 1 and 2 will depend on whether the employee is required to serve a waiting period for purposes of entitlement to E.I. benefits. If the employee is required to serve a waiting period of 2 weeks (i) a) below will apply. If not, then (i) b) below will apply. (i) Weeks 1 & 2 a) A payment equivalent to 100% of the employee’s normal basic earnings for the first 2 weeks of the Parental Leave; or b) the employee will receive from the University a top-up payment equal to the difference between 100% of the employee’s normal basic earnings and the amount of Employment Insurance benefit the employee receives. (ii) Weeks 3 to 15 For the next 13 weeks of the Parental Leave, the employee will receive from the University a top-up payment equal to the difference between 100% of the employee’s normal basic earnings and the amount of Employment Insurance benefit the employee receives.
