Employee Claims. A unit member may be reimbursed for repair or replacement of clothing or other personal property damaged or destroyed in the performance of their duties, taking into consideration depreciation. Personal property possession must have been reasonable or proper under the circumstances and the damage or destruction must not have been caused in whole or in part by the negligent or wrongful act of the employee. Any damage or destruction will not be compensated when it resulted from normal wear and tear associated with day-to-day living and working conditions. Damage to a unit member’s motor vehicle will be reimbursed for out-of-pocket expenses, not to exceed $200, provided that the unit member can produce the proof that their motor vehicle was damaged as a result of their enforcement of school regulations. All claims must be submitted to the Small Claims Review Board for its decision. The maximum reimbursement under this Article shall not exceed $900 for claims that are approved by the superintendent or designee.
