Excess teacher. A teacher who, because of enrollment changes or fluctuations in class sizes that affect a teacher's present teaching assignment within a department or building, is no longer required for that teaching assignment. Among teachers who have the same teaching assignment within the department or building, the teacher with the least District seniority shall be determined as the excess teacher. In K-6, the excess teacher will be determined by grade level and District seniority. In K-6 specialist areas (e.g. Art, Library Tech, Music, PE, Special Ed, etc.), the excess teacher will be determined by department and District seniority. In grades 7-8 and in grades 9-12, the excess teacher will be determined by department and District seniority.
