Common use of Fire source Clause in Contracts

Fire source. The length and the width of the fire shall exceed the plan dimensions of the fuel tank by 0.1 m. ISO 11439 contains directions to produce a suitable fire test. The average temperature shall remain above 590 °C for the duration of the test. Any fuel may be used for the fire source provided it supplies uniform heat sufficient to maintain the specified test temperatures until the tank is vented. The selection of fuel should take into consideration air pollution concerns. The arrangement of the fire shall be recorded in sufficient detail to ensure the rate of heat input to the tank is reproducible. Any failure or inconsistency of the fire source during a test invalidates the result.
