Common use of Five (5) Minute Leeway Clause in Contracts

Five (5) Minute Leeway. The Union agrees to a five (5) minute leeway each day, which is not intended to be part of the work schedule. Rather, this is to take care of the extra few minutes required to complete a job in progress at quitting time. All time worked in excess of the five (5) minutes' leeway shall be paid at overtime rates. Furthermore, the parties agree to a five (5) minute ‘rounding rule” with respect to the Employer’s time recording process. All punches five (5) minutes before or after the shift starting or ending time will be rounded to the scheduled starting or ending time. This agreement is without prejudice to the Employer’s ability to discipline for employee attendance issues.
