Common use of Friday Clause in Contracts

Friday. Any driver in the bargaining unit may sign up for trips and the assignment will begin with the most senior driver and continue in rotation. (This language is not intended to result in any change from the current practice). If two (2) or more trips are scheduled for the same day and the same time, the driver with the most seniority may choose the trip desired. 2) In the event of a canceled run, a minimum payment of one (1) hour at the appropriate rate of pay shall be paid to a driver who is not notified within one (1) hour prior to the starting time for such run. 3) If a driver is unable to drive a specified trip, the trip shall be covered by the senior driver among the names of drivers signed up for the individual trip. This shall not change the original rotation. Drivers assigned to an extra trip which is canceled may drive their regular run and, if so assigned (provided the substitute driver is not en route to or at the loading area) the minimum of one (1) hour will not apply. 4) Midday runs of absent drivers shall be posted separately as they become available. Any driver of the bargaining unit may sign up for these runs and the assignment will begin with the most senior driver and continue in rotation. Midday drivers (excluding shuttles) may sign for a midday run on a particular day if they do not have a run on that day.
