FUNCTIONAL SPECIFICATION FOR PRODUCTS. Supplier will work with CA technical teams to refine each Product to allow a high degree of automation for each supported environment in addition to developing the Application Program Interfaces (API) to the appropriate CA Software. Ultimately, the degree of automation and accuracy of the remediation process will largely depend on the accuracy of the input from the CA date impact assessment process (tool and analyst) and the quality of the technical teams who run the remediation process using the Product. Each Product will take input from the corresponding CA-Impact 2000 product for a given application environment and remediate the Date 2000 impacts to user-defined standards. Output will consist of remediated code ready for compilation and system testing. For a given application, the input from CA-Impact 2000 products will be data strings containing a list of date variables and the corresponding locations, lengths, date formats and user-assigned remediation strategies. The remediation strategy for each date variable is assigned by the functional analyst who uses the CA-Impact 2000 product, and may include full date expansion, insertion of a date windowing algorithm and/or date compression for a given date format. The accuracy of the date impact analysis will be heavily dependent on the quality of the analyst in addition to the technical capabilities of the CA-Impact 2000 product. Each Product will need as input at least one component in the chain of logic associated with a date field without which the corresponding date fields will not be remediated. Additional errors could result in the use of a Product should the analyst include a variable as input which is not a date. In these situations, the Product will proceed to remediate the incorrect input variable based on the assigned remediation strategy, which will likely result in inappropriate modifications to other variables in the logic chain. Each Product will require adjustments to reflect the specifics of a Customer's particular software environment so as to enable the Product to be more compatible with the performance of the specific environment. As a result, the efficacy of each Product will be directly proportional to the quality of the work of the technical teams who run the remediation process using the Products.
