Funeral Detail. In the event of the death of a member of the bargaining unit in the line of duty, up to six (6) employees in the same job series, or, in the alternative, the same agency, shall be granted time off to attend the funeral . Department heads shall be notified a reasonable time in advance. Personnel attending funerals for other law enforcement officers or fire fighters, where the Union has determined that a funeral detail is necessary, shall be permitted to wear their uniform to such services .

Funeral Detail. Section 1. The PBA may form a funeral detail of up to four members to attend the funeral of a Florida law enforcement officer killed in the line of duty and to attend events commemorating the on-duty deaths of Florida law enforcement officers such as the annual Law Enforcement Memorial Day service in Tallahassee. The composition of the detail, and the funeral or event shall be subject to the approval of the Chief. The Chief will determine whether the funeral detail is an on or off-duty assignment. If approved, a marked police cruiser shall be provided by the City. Section 2. Subject to the approval of the Chief, a detail traveling more than 150 miles to a funeral or event may stay overnight. Section 3. Except for the provision of an approved marked cruiser by the City, all expenses of a funeral detail shall be paid by the PBA. Section 1. As provided in s. 111.07 and s. 768.28, F.S., the City shall provide a defense for a bargaining unit member who is named as a defendant in any action for an injury or damage suffered as a result of any act, event, or omission of action in the scope of the member's employment with the City. The member shall cooperate fully with the City in the preparation of the defense. Section 2. No such defense shall be provided in the event the member acted in bad faith, or with malicious purpose, or in a manner exhibiting wanton and/or willful disregard of human rights, safety, or property. The Department shall permit one employee of this bargaining unit to be part of a funeral detail and permit this detail to attend the funerals of any law enforcement officer within the State of Florida who loses his/her life in the line of duty. B. The City will supply the funeral detail with a marked cruiser for the purpose of attending funerals as provided in (A) above. C. The City shall not be responsible for the payment of expenses of this detail such as gas, oil, lodging, and meals. D. In the event the bargaining unit member who serves as the F.O.P. funeral detail is on-duty at the time of the funeral, he/she shall be released without loss of pay, provided however, that such member shall not be eligible during such time off for workers’ compensation benefits in case of injury. E. This provision shall not be subject to any grievance procedure.

  • WORKPLACE SAFETY AND INSURANCE 41.1 Where an employee is absent by reason of an injury or an occupational disease for which a claim is made under the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, his or her salary shall continue to be paid for a period not exceeding thirty (30) days. If an award is not made, any payments made under the foregoing provisions in excess of that to which he or she is entitled under Articles 44.1 and 44.6 (Short Term Sickness Plan) shall be an amount owing by the employee to the Employer. 41.2 Where an employee is absent by reason of an injury or an occupational disease for which an award is made under the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, his or her salary shall continue to be paid for a period not exceeding three (3) consecutive months or a total of sixty-five (65) working days where such absences are intermittent, following the date of the first absence because of the injury or occupational disease, and any absence in respect of the injury or occupational disease shall not be charged against his or her credits. 41.3 Where an award is made under the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act to an employee that is less than the regular salary of the employee and the award applies for longer than the period set out in Article 41.2 and the employee has accumulated credits, his or her regular salary may be paid and the difference between the regular salary paid after the period set out in Article 41.2 and the compensation awarded shall be converted to its equivalent time and deducted from his or her accumulated credits. 41.4 Where an employee receives an award under the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, and the award applies for longer than the period set out in Article 41.2 (i.e. three (3) months), the Employer will continue subsidies for Basic Life, Long Term Income Protection, Supplementary Health and Hospital and the Dental Plans for the period during which the employee is receiving the award. The Employer shall continue to make the Employer’s pension contributions unless the employee gives the Employer a written notice that the employee does not intend to pay the employee’s pension contributions. 41.5 Where an employee is absent by reason of an injury or an occupational disease for which an award is made under the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, the employee shall not be entitled to a leave of absence with pay under Article 44 (Short Term Sickness Plan) as an option following the expiry of the application of Article 41.2.

  • Inpatient Services Hospital Rehabilitation Facility

  • Chiropractic Services This plan covers chiropractic visits up to the benefit limit shown in the Summary of Medical Benefits. The benefit limit applies to any visit for the purposes of chiropractic treatment or diagnosis.

  • General Education University Program Requirements All MTA applicable courses require a grade “C” or higher

  • Plagiarism The appropriation of another person's ideas, processes, results, or words without giving appropriate credit.

  • Extended Health Care The Hospital shall contribute on behalf of each eligible employee seventy-five percent (75%) of the billed premium under the Extended Health Care Plan (Liberty Health $15-25 deductible plan including hearing aids with a maximum of $300.00 per person and vision care with a maximum of $150.00 every 24 months per person, or its equivalent) provided the balance of the monthly premium is paid by employees through payroll deduction. Any Hospital currently paying more than 75% of the premium shall continue to do so. The drug formulary shall be as defined by Liberty Health Formulary Three.

  • Training and Development 3.1 Authorities will develop local 'Workforce Development Plans (see Part 4.8),' closely linked to their service delivery plans, which will provide the focus for the establishment of training and development priorities. Training and development should be designed to meet the corporate and service needs of authorities both current and in the future, taking into account the individual needs of employees. Local schemes on training and development should enable authorities to attain their strategic objectives through development of their employees. Training and development provisions should be shaped to local requirements and take account of the full range of learning methods. Such an approach should enable access to learning for all employees. The needs of part time employees and shift workers need particular consideration. 3.2 Employees attending or undertaking required training are entitled to payment of normal earnings; all prescribed fees and other relevant expenses arising. Employees are also entitled to paid leave for the purpose of sitting for required examinations. When attending training courses outside contracted daily hours, part-time employees should be paid on the same basis as full- time employees. (Assistance for other forms of learning, for example that directed at individual development, will be locally determined). Some training can be very expensive and authorities may require repayment of all or part of the costs incurred should an employee leave the authority before a reasonable time period has expired. The authority's policy in this regard should be made explicit. 3.3 Objectives for training and development programmes should include the following: • To enable Councils to attain their strategic objectives via investment in their employees. • To promote equity of access to learning. • To encourage employees to develop their skills and level of responsibility to the maximum of their individual potential. • To widen and modernise the skills profile of employees to maximise their versatility, employability and so, job security. • To enable employees to raise productivity, quality and customer service in pursuit of sustainable improvement 3.4 Authorities should establish local partnership arrangements, to include recognised trade unions, to develop their local workforce development plans. 3.5 The NJC endorses partnership provision such as the "Return to Learn" scheme. Authorities and the recognised trade unions shall encourage and support employees taking on the statutory Union Learning Representative (ULR) role. This will include agreeing facilities and paid release in accordance with statutory provisions. ULRs should be enabled to play a full part in promoting and implementing local training and development programmes.
