Common use of Gas Utility Corrosion Mechanic Clause in Contracts

Gas Utility Corrosion Mechanic. Generally all applicants who have experience as a general corrosion mechanic and have completed Corrosion Mechanic Training School or equivalent, and can be certified by a duly constituted Outside Line Construction Local Union of IBEW. Typical Duties: The employee with direct supervision performs such duties as installing, checking, adjusting, operating and maintaining all types of corrosion control equipment and instrumentation, such as but not limited to, rectifiers, anodes, insulated fittings, volt-ohm-meters, potentiometers, recorders, and inhibitor injections systems. The work includes performing test verifying isolation of metallic underground structures, determining cathodic protection interference, restoring and maintaining cathodic protection systems and selecting cathodic protection locations. The employee may be required to maintain files and records, to outline work schedules, to provide functional guidance on all of the above activities. May work alone or with assistance of another employee. May also work with a third employee when a third employee is required for guarding a manhole or vault opening or for flagging traffic.
