Common use of GENERAL PURPOSE OF AGREEMENT Clause in Contracts

GENERAL PURPOSE OF AGREEMENT. The general purpose of this Agreement is to set forth the hours of work, rates of pay, and conditions to be observed by the Employer and the Union; and to provide orderly and harmonious procedures between the Employer and the Union and to secure a prompt and fair disposition of grievances. It is the further purpose of the Agreement to prevent interruption of work and to promote the efficient operation of the business. The Union subscribes to the principles of a fair day's work for a fair day's pay, and the Employer subscribes to the principle of a fair day's pay for a fair day's work. WITNESSETH: It is hereby mutually agreed to as follows:
