Apprentice Rates. The Apprentice rates shall be as follows, subject to the successful completion of regular examination:

(a) In the first year of employment, after completion of pre-apprenticeship training, 70% of the first step of the Journeyman rate.
(b) In the second year of employment, 80% of the first step of the Journeyman rate.
(c) In the third year of employment, 90% of the first step of the Journeyman rate.
(d) At the end of the apprenticeship program, an apprentice shall be paid at the first step of the Journeyman rate. In the event that regular examinations are impossible to take at the normally scheduled time due to insufficient facilities at the trade schools, the rates shall be retroactive to the normally scheduled date, provided that when the examination is actually taken, it is successfully completed and provided that the appropriate number of hours have been worked.

Apprentice Rates. Apprentices will be paid at rates established by the joint committee of the appropriate local.
Apprentice Rates. Operating Engineer Apprentice wage scales are established by the Joint Apprenticeship and Training Board of Trustees. The percentage of Journeyman pay paid each apprentice is based upon the number of hours worked in the program and is approved by the United States Department of Labor. This can be only altered with that Agency’s approval. With the exception of training, all other fringe contributions shall be paid as Journeyman. The actual specifics may be obtained from the Joint Apprentice and Training Offices.

Apprentice Rates. Competency Based Progression The wage rates for each stage of the apprenticeship are set out in clause 3.2 above. The conditions for progression to each stage are set out in the following table.
3.3.1 Engineering Trades Person Where the training plan provides for the completion of a relevant AQF 3 qualification: Stage of Apprenticeship Entry, Exit and Progression Requirements Stage 1 Entry Nil entry requirements Exit There is no exit point at this stage. Stage 2 Entry An apprentice enters Stage 2: • on attainment of 25% of the total competency points for the relevant AQF Certificate III qualification specified in the training plan ; or • 12 months* after commencing the apprenticeship; whichever is earlier. Exit There is no exit point at this stage Stage 3 Entry An apprentice enters Stage 3: • on attainment of 50% of the total competency points for the relevant AQF Certificate III qualification specified in the training plan; or • 12 months* after commencing Stage 2; whichever is earlier. Exit There is no exit point at this stage Stage 4 Entry An apprentice enters Stage 4: • on attainment of 75% of the total competency points for the relevant AQF Certificate III qualification specified in the training plan; or • 12 months * after commencing Stage 3; whichever is earlier. Exit Upon the attainment of 100% of the total competency points for the relevant AQF Certificate III qualification specified in the training plan, an apprentice will exit with the relevant AQF Certificate III qualification
