Common use of Hospitalist Clause in Contracts

Hospitalist. A physician who is under contract with the Hospital to assume primary care responsibility for unassigned patients presenting to the ED if requested to do so by the ED physician. A Hospitalist may also assume responsibility for the care of a patient that has a primary care physician if asked by the primary care to assume care and if doing so is in accordance with contractual agreements or other agreements to provide coverage.
