The state must submit an Interim Evaluation Report for the completed years of the demonstration, and for each subsequent extension of the demonstration, as outlined in 42 CFR §431.412(c)(2)(vi). When submitting an application for extension, the Interim Evaluation Report should be posted to the state’s website with the application for public comment. a) The Interim Evaluation Report will discuss evaluation progress and present findings to date as per the approved evaluation design. b) For any demonstration authority that expires prior to the overall demonstration’s expiration date, the interim evaluation report must include an evaluation of the authority as approved by CMS. c) If the state is seeking to extend the demonstration, the draft Interim Evaluation Report is due when the application for extension is submitted. If the state made changes to the demonstration in its application for extension, the research questions and hypotheses, and how the design was adapted should be included. If the state is not requesting an extension of the demonstration, a draft Interim Evaluation Report is due one year prior to the end of the demonstration. For demonstration phase-outs prior to the expiration of the approval period, the draft Interim Evaluation Report is due to CMS on the date that will be specified in the notice of termination or suspension. d) The state must submit the final Interim Evaluation Report 60 days after receiving CMS comments on the draft Interim Evaluation Report and post the document to the state’s website. e) The Interim Evaluation Report must comply with CMS' separately provided guidance entitled, "Preparing the Evaluation Report."
