Intra-Building. 15.3.2.2.1.1 Within a building, there may be different kinds of equipment that require synchronization at the DS1 and DS0 rates. Synchronization at the DS1 rate is accomplished by the frequency synchronizing presence of buffer stores at various DS1 transmission interfaces. Synchronization at the DS0 rate is accomplished by using a composite clock signal that phase synchronizes the clocks. Equipment requiring DS0 synchronization frequently does not have adequate buffer storage to accommodate the phase variations among different equipment. Control of phase variations to an acceptable level is accomplished by externally timing all interconnecting DS0 circuits to a single clock source and by limiting the interconnection of DS0 equipment to less than 1,500 cable feet. Therefore, a BITS shall provide DS1 and composite clock signals when the appropriate composite signal is a 64-kHz 5/8th duty cycle, return to zero with a bipolar violation every eighth pulse (B8RZ).
