Common use of ISOLATING EQUIPMENT Clause in Contracts

ISOLATING EQUIPMENT. To obtain protection for persons working on high voltage electric equipment, there shall be at least one (1) visible break that cannot fall closed, or two liquid-immersed breaks, in series, between a live connection and all conductors which the worker might contact. When two breaks in series can be provided by any existing disconnecting devices in the circuit between the equipment and each source of supply, both of these devices shall be open. Before opening or closing a disconnecting device used to obtain a visible break, the load and existing current first must be broken by the controlling circuit breaker.
