LAMPPOST REMOVAL. Where a lamppost is to be removed, the Contractor shall remove and disconnect wires, luminaire, cutout, control device, scroll and other attachments, if any, excavate around post sufficiently to permit removal. Lamppost shall be carefully removed and disassembled and each part cleaned and marked for identification. All parts shall be returned to City stock. If a lamppost is not to be replaced, it shall not be removed until service conductors have been disconnected and removed. The Contractor shall also remove all conduits, bolts or other obstructions within the excavated area and backfill with earth, thoroughly tamping same as thrown into excavation. If the lamppost is broken or damaged in the process of removal, the Contractor shall immediately notify the Electrical Inspection Unit. For posts with a foundation the Contractor shall remove the top part of the foundation and all conduits, bolts or other obstructions to a level ten (10”) inches below the grade and restore surfaces as required. There shall be no payment for removal until work pursuant to the item is completed.
