Landscape Level Planning. ‌ Landscape level planning includes the development of recovery, action, and Herd Plans, and the gathering of information and analysis to support those plans. Definitions of the different types of plans referenced in this table are included in Section 1.0 of the Agreement. Activity Sub-Category: Herd Plans Scope: All Southern Mountain Caribou (Central, Northern & Southern Groups) Actions Target Timeline Lead Party Current • Complete Phase 1 Herd Plans for all Southern Mountain Caribou. Phase 1 Herd Plans include outlines of the current state of Southern Mountain Caribou, Southern Mountain Caribou habitat condition, threats faced by a particular herd, past management and recovery actions, and listing of available and relevant literature. • Completed in summer 2018 British Columbia Activity Sub-Category: Herd Plans Scope: All Southern Mountain Caribou (Central, Northern & Southern Groups) Actions Target Timeline Lead Party Planned • Complete Phase 2 Herd Plans: o For 2018/19, herds that have been identified as in need of immediate attention: all herds in the Central Group, South Selkirks, Purcells South, Xxxxx Grey South, Groundhog, Xxxxx Grey North, Tweedsmuir, Chase, Wolverine, Takla and all herds in the Chilcotin LPU. o Support herd planning using a Structured Decision Making approach or other collaborative process with Indigenous peoples and stakeholders. This approach will use the best available science, information and Indigenous knowledge to identify additional Southern Mountain Caribou habitat protection and management actions in specific areas, with the strategic objective of achieving self-sustaining populations in line with the outcomes identified in the federal Recovery Strategy. • Spring 2019 - Fall 0000 Xxxxxxx Xxxxxxxx o For the Central Group, the key conservation measures included in the Caribou Recovery Partnership Agreement will be the objectives on which the structured decision-making process will be based. o Herd plans will identify the recovery activities to be implemented, by herd, and the expected outcomes, including how to promote a net increase in Southern Mountain Caribou habitat over the five year term of the Agreement. o Update Phase 2 Herd Plans as needed.
