Common use of Lawful Use Clause in Contracts

Lawful Use. The Ship shall not be employed: (a) in any way or in any activity which is unlawful under international law or the domestic laws of any relevant country; (b) in carrying illicit or prohibited goods; (c) in a way which may make it liable to be condemned by a prize court or destroyed, seized or confiscated; or (d) if there are hostilities in any part of the world (whether war has been declared or not), in carrying contraband goods and the persons responsible for the operation of the Ship shall take all necessary and proper precautions to ensure that this does not happen, including participation in industry or other voluntary schemes available to the Ship and in which leading operators of ships operating under the same flag or engaged in similar trades generally participate at the relevant time.
