Leave and Expenses for Grievances. 10.03.1 As a general policy, the parties agree that attendance in connection with the processing of grievances shall be at such times as operational requirements permit. 10.03.2 The District shall allow leave without loss of pay for up to one (1) elected Union representative for the purpose of attending a meeting and agrees to pay necessary and reasonable travel, sustenance and accommodation expenses of such representative when attending a meeting convened by the District outside their headquarters. Such expenses shall not be paid for any meeting convened at the request of the Union. 10.03.3 For meetings connected with Articles 10.02.1 or 10.02.2 leave without loss of pay to one (1) grievor and one (1) elected Union representative. 10.03.4 Arbitration Board hearings - leave without loss of pay to one (1) grievor. 10.03.5 In the event an employee is called as a witness before an Arbitration Board convened under Article 11 the District shall grant leave, expenses shall be applicable as follows: i) if called by the District, leave without loss of pay, and expenses paid by the District; ii) if called by the Union, leave without pay and expenses paid by the Union; iii) if called by the Arbitration Board, the parties shall share equally the cost of leave without loss of pay and expenses.

Such expenses shall not be paid for any meeting convened at the request of the Union. 10.03.3 23.5.3 For meetings connected with Articles 10.02.1 or 10.02.2 a grievance under Article 23.3.1, leave and expenses shall be granted as follows: a) Step 1 - leave without loss of pay to one (1) grievor and one (1) local elected Union representative. b) Step 2 - leave without loss of pay to one (1) grievor and one (1) elected Union representative; expenses as in Article 23.5 above, when any such participant attends a meeting convened by Management away from headquarters. 10.03.4 c) Arbitration Board hearings - leave without loss of pay to one (1) grievor. 10.03.5 23.5.4 In the event an employee is called as a witness before an Arbitration Board the Arbitrator convened under Article 11 24, the District Agency shall grant leave, expenses shall be applicable as follows: ia) if If called by the DistrictAgency, leave without loss of pay, and expenses paid by the District;Agency. iib) if If called by the Union, leave without with pay in accordance with the provisions of Article 21.9.1 and expenses paid by the Union;. iiic) if If called by the Arbitration BoardArbitrator, the parties shall share equally the cost of leave without loss of pay and expenses.
