Common use of Leave for Elected Officers Clause in Contracts

Leave for Elected Officers. (a) (i) Employees elected as President, 1st Vice-President, 2nd Vice-President and Regional Vice-Presidents of the Union shall be granted leave of absence for the term of office. During the leave of absence such employees shall maintain all accumulated rights and benefits to which they are entitled under the Collective Agreement. (ii) Upon reasonable notification, the Employer shall grant leave without pay to a Union representative seconded for a minimum period of one week to serve as President of the union on a temporary basis. (b) The Employer shall continue to pay such employees their applicable salary in accordance with the terms of the Collective Agreement. Upon invoice by the Employer the Union shall reimburse the Employer for the amounts so paid. (c) The benefits of any group plan shall be extended to such employees and the Union will reimburse the Employer for any costs involved. (d) Such employees shall be entitled to an increment each year of their leave of absence in accordance with Appendix A. (e) Such employees shall advise the Employer as soon as possible when an extension of the leave of absence is applicable due to re-election. (f) Upon termination of their leave of absence such employees shall be offered as a minimum the position they held with the Employer in the same work site and community before they commenced the leave of absence. When such employees wish to invoke this clause of the Collective Agreement they shall provide the Employer with a three (3) month notice of their intent to do so. (g) Notwithstanding article 13.12(f), the Employer may make an offer of employment to such employees to a position inside the bargaining unit should such employees bid on a competition and be the successful candidate.

When employees on leave under Clause wish to invoke this Clause of the Agreement they shall provide the Association with a three month notice of their intent to do so. Notwithstanding Clause the Association may make an offer of employment to employees on leave under Clause to a position inside the Bargaining Unit should the employee bid on a competition and be the successful candidate. Employees on leave under Xxxxxx shall not accumulate seniority while on leave without pay. Upon reasonable notification, the Employer Association shall grant leave without pay to a the Union representative seconded for a minimum period of one week to serve as President of the union Union on a temporary basis.
